What is Veganism?
Veganism is a philosophy and lifestyle that seeks to exclude the use of animals for food, clothing, or any other purpose. Vegans do not use or consume animal products of any kind. For more info visit Vegan Outreach.
When is Try Vegan Week?
Try Vegan Week is June 7th through June 14th, 2008.
How do I get involved?
If you are interested in trying veganism, all the events (with the exception of Vegan Prom) are free and open to the public. Feel free to come and go and get involved at any level you feel comfortable. If you need assistance, you can sign up for a mentor.
I am already vegan, what can I do to help?
Veteran vegans can help by signing up as a mentor to help someone with moral support, answering questions or just giving friendly advice. Mentors can also help with cooking lessons and shopping trips. If you have a friend or family member that has been interested in trying veganism, you can help by asking them to join. If you don’t know anyone who you can help out throughout the week we can match you up with someone.
We run a veg-friendly business, how can we get involved?
Veg-friendly businesses can help by offering to sponsor Try Vegan Week or hosting one of the daily events or dine-outs. For those businesses interested in sponsoring we have four levels to choose from. For more information, visit our Sponsorship page.
How do I sign up for a mentor?
Participants who need to find a mentor can fill out the mentor request form on our Participation page.
I don’t live in Portland, can I still be involved?
Most certainly, you can help by sponsoring our event or by simply helping to promote us online. If you would like to travel to Portland and participate in the event you’re more than welcome to do so. If you’re looking to mentor, we can match you up with someone, and if you’re going to be looking for a mentor, we can help with that as well. For more information, please email us at .
